ENLIGHTENED AWARDED IV&V SERVICES CONTRACT BY THE US DEPARTMENT OF VETERAN’S AFFAIRS

WASHINGTON (DECEMBER 9): Enlightened, Inc., an Inc. 500 company, today announced that it has been awarded a contract with the US Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) to provide Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) services. Enlightened will support the Electronic Government (E-Gov) office by monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the VA E-Gov initiatives agency-wide. In addition, Enlightened will be assisting the VA E-Gov office in serving as their liaison to internal and external stakeholders such as the VA initiative Project Managers (PMs), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and Congress.

As an active member of the VA E-Gov, Enlightened’s role will be to assist VA in achieving "green" status on the President’s Management Agenda scorecard. Enlightened’s service level is measured in accordance with the score VA receives on its E-Gov scorecard. For the most recent reporting period, 4th quarter 2005, VA progressed from "red" to "green" for current E-Gov activities and processes. The OMB stated, "rarely has an agency progressed from ‘red’ to ‘green’ in one reporting period."

Expanded Electronic Government (E-Gov) is one of the government-wide initiatives on The Presidents Management Agenda (PMA). The Veterans Affairs (VA) CIO has fully committed the appropriate IT resources and managers within VA to the full and complete adoption of the E-Gov Agenda initiatives. As an agency, VA receives a grade from OMB that is reported to the President that reflects the agency’s compliance with and participation in the initiative. The grade VA receives on this “PMA Scorecard” can have direct implications on the VA’s agency budget approval. The CIO has committed the VA to achieving and maintaining a score of “green” on the PMA Scorecard. Within VA, under the direction of the Office of the CIO the E-Gov initiatives have been designated as significant priorities and have received the direct attention of the CIO. In conjunction with Enlightened and consistent with the priorities of the Office of the CIO the VA E-Gov office was established to promote, communicate, and monitor the CIO’s “Getting to Green” vision.
